About financeinsight

How we source numbers, and what we won't do with yours

Our advisory ethics, sourcing methodology and privacy commitments, in one place.

Advisory ethics

financeinsight publishes general financial information and self-serve calculators. We are not a registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, or accounting firm, and nothing on this site is individualized advice for your specific situation.

We hold to a short list of rules across every guide and tool: we don't promise a rate of return, we don't recommend specific securities, products, or providers, and we don't accept payment to feature or favor any financial product in our content.

Where a topic genuinely requires a licensed professional — tax filing, estate planning, or a decision with legal consequences — the relevant guide says so directly and encourages you to consult one, instead of attempting to answer it for you.

Sourcing methodology

Every reference rate used in a calculator — a long-run illustrative return, an inflation assumption, a savings-ratio benchmark — is treated as a labeled input, not a fact about the future. We review these figures on a quarterly cycle against long-horizon, publicly available economic reference points, and we adjust them only when the underlying reference data has meaningfully shifted.

Calculators never fetch live market prices. This is intentional: a tool that looks "live" invites you to trust its output more than a projection deserves. Instead, every result panel states the assumption behind it in plain language, so you can substitute your own number at any time.

Guide content is written in-house for educational clarity and is reviewed periodically for accuracy and tone. Where a guide references a general concept (e.g., how compounding works), we favor durable, well-established explanations over anything tied to a specific year's market conditions.

Privacy policy

Calculator inputs. The numbers you enter into any calculator are processed entirely in your browser. They are not transmitted to or stored on our servers, and we have no record of what you calculated.

Contact form. If you submit the contact form, we use your name, email, and message only to respond to your request and keep a record of that correspondence. We do not sell or share this information with third parties for marketing.

Cookies and analytics. We may use minimal, aggregated analytics to understand which guides and tools are useful, without linking that data to your identity.

Your requests. You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you and request that we delete it, through the contact page.
